I studied art and art history while I was in Italy in the summer of 2013. After traveling around and visiting many different churches, I decided to create this watercolor inspired by the religious art throughout Italy. This piece is made up of 18 separate parts that were painted individually. I wanted each part to feel disconnected from the other parts. Nothing lines up perfectly, the colors are extremely exaggerated, and it's size is overwhelming. All of these things combine to make this piece really interesting and a new take on the history of art in Italy.
